Stanza and Smashwords get together

Writer’s Digest editor Jane Friedman reports:

…We also closed the issue before the partnership announcement between Stanza and Smashwords. You’re probably thinking, Why do I care about the partnership of two companies I’ve never heard of?

True, it wasn’t until I had an iPhone that I became really aware of these two companies and understood what was happening.

Here are the basics:

  • The iPhone is a mobile device that’s used by nearly 20 million people.
  • Stanza is a popular e-book reader you can use on your iPhone (you download it for free directly from your phone).
  • Smashwords is a self-publishing company that publishes e-books only. You can use their service without any upfront cost, plus you can make your book available for as little or as much as you want (even for free).
  • Smashwords + Stanza means your self-published work can be available to millions of people, or at least the 1 million people who have downloaded the Stanza application onto their iPhones, as of January 2009.

Just posted day 15′s writing

It’s still day 15 here, though not by much…

OK, I understand: Too much of a good thing

My last many blog entries have been my daily report about my book piece posting, and they did not add much content to this blog — beyond the fact that the “write a book in 30 days” process is working. It continues to! If you’re interested in following it, go to the Facebook group.

Day 13 is up!

Me, too, and it’s only 6:15….off to LA for a coaching course today. Check out the Facebook group.

Every time I write a book, it’s like the first time! This is fun. Come on over to the Facebook group — “Joel’s Book-writing Mastermind group” — and check it out.

Day 12: Did it in the morning

Every time I write a book, it’s like the first time! This is fun. Come on over to the Facebook group — “Joel’s Book-writing Mastermind group” — and check it out.

Day 11 — things are going quite well, but…

I plan to spend more than the 30-60 minutes a day I’ve been spending on this project. I want to be sure to get to February 10 with a finished book.

Day 10 of Joel’s “book in public”

I cleared time in the middle of the day to do some writing. I may yet do some more in the evening, but the 47 minutes I devoted to the process just now were very fruitful and satisfying.

I want to write in the morning, but meetings kept me from it today.

It’s going well!

Day 9 – some thoughts, and some more writing

Yesterday was Shabat — the sabbath for Jews. So I did not post an entry in the Facebook group. I did post one today. Check it out.

I planned my day poorly, and had only 42 minutes for writing today. But I feel good about what I did write. And since the structure is all done, I picked a different place than the continuation of yesterday’s writing. The BookProgram™makes it easy to write wherever I feel like writing, any day.

Check it out on Facebook.
